A new decade begins....

As we embark on a new decade, we are pleased to report that Weeks Medical Center is thriving and well positioned for the future. We understand the important role Weeks plays in our community and we are looking ahead with great optimism. The changing and challenging environment of healthcare impacts all of us and our extraordinary staff of medical professionals, administrators, volunteers, and, of course, our Auxiliary are working together every day to bring the best medical care and personal service to our patients and their families. Please take a moment to review the 2009 Annual report and get a glimpse of people and facilities that make Weeks such a special healthcare facility.

Financial Stability & Community Support:

Financially, Weeks is on solid footing with increases in virtually all key departments, allowing us to add additional services and personnel not normally found at a small regional hospital. Keeping affordable expert services close to home remains an important goal. We were able to provide extensive financial support for those in our community who face challenges meeting their medical expenses. This year Weeks provided over $2 million in support through our Health Access Program.

2009 Highlights:
  • PET/CT Scan service which is the most advanced technology to diagnose many types of cancer, heart disease, and certain other abnormalities
  • Dr. David Pelkowski joined our staff as a full-time cardiologist.
  • We renovated the inpatient arena with a new nursing station and monitoring system
  • Our partnership with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center expanded and now includes three oncologists providing expert cancer care close to home.
  • John Eddy, who was named the NH Pharmacist of the Year
  • Weeks Podiatrists, Dr. Hal Goolman and Dr. Kemp Schanlaber, who became certified in wound care.
Future Growth:

Shortly, our plans for a major expansion will begin to take shape, and we will begin an important capital campaign to help us realize our goal of replacing the existing Lancaster physicians office building with a new facility which will be incorporated into our main hospital campus. We look forward to the continued generous support of our community which helps to assure that Weeks Medical Center will be providing high quality healthcare for decades to come.

It is truly our pleasure to serve you – our patients, our friends, our family.
