The annual Memorial Luminary Service, organized by Hospice of Weeks Medical Center, will be held on Thursday, October 29th at 6:00 p.m. The Service will be held outside in the Memorial Garden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 113 Main Street in Lancaster. The community is invited to attend this special memorial service to remember and celebrate the lives of those who are deceased.
“The Luminary Lighting Ceremony has become a very healing event for family and friends. Many families and community members come together for this annual tribute to their neighbors, co-workers, and their loved ones,” explains Gail Tattan-Giampaolo, Director of Weeks Home Health and Hospice. The non-denominational service includes special readings and music. During the memorial candle lighting, a list of names of those who have died during the previous year, or in past years, will be read aloud. Following the service, everyone is invited into the Fellowship Hall to share soup, chowder and cookies.
New this year is the sale of Luminary Bags as a fundraising effort for Hospice of Weeks. Bags are available for purchase at $10 each and can be decorated as a tribute to the loved one who has died. Bags should be returned to the Home Health Office no later than October 22nd.
For more information to purchase a luminary bag or to add the name of your loved to the reading list, please call Mary Bates, Patient Care Coordinator at 788-5020, ext. 3140.
