Weeks Medical Center has announced plans for a 12 week youth Get in Shape program to be held at the Weeks Whitefield Physicians Office beginning September 13. The program is open to Weeks Medical Center family practice patients and targets youths aged 8 to 18 with a BMI (body mass index) of over 85%. Testing to determine BMI can easily be conducted through a regular visit to your Weeks Primary Care practitioner. The program follows the nationally recognized Trim Kids plan. The goal of the program is to teach children and their families how to develop a life-long healthy lifestyle.
The program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons from 3:30 to 5 pm. An initial fit test gets the program off and running and follow up testing and monitoring are conducted to measure results and set appropriate goals. The members of the Weeks medical staff that will manage the program include primary care physicians, medical practitioners, a dietitian, an occupational therapist and an exercise specialist.
If you are already a Weeks Medical Center patient and would like specific information on the Get in Shape program in Whitefield please contact Mariann Parker at 788-5298.
