On April 8th, over 40 WMRHS freshman students traveled to Weeks Medical Center to learn about healthcare careers during the Taste of Healthcare program. The students had the opportunity to visit many departments throughout the hospital including:
This program is designed to augment a WMRHS course called Introduction to Career Clusters (ICC) in which students learn about career options and plan their high school courses according to these career goals. Weeks Medical Center offers this program twice a year, once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester.
Since its inception in 2004, there has been a significant increase in the number of students enrolled in the Allied Health Program at the Hugh Gallen Regional Career and Technical Center. This Allied Health Program is designed to provide junior and senior high school students the opportunity for career certifications and/or college credit course work. The HGCTC serves high schools from Stratford to Lisbon, including Groveton and WMRHS.
